Dyeing Wool and Other Protein Fibres

Dyeing Wool and Other Protein Fibres

This excellent book by Canadian author Susan Rex is a guide to dyeing yarn, fleece, prepared fibre, silk scarves and painted warps.

Directions are given for mixing dye, immersion dyeing, and applying the dye directly to the fibre. There are many variations listed plus a variety of processing methods. As well as exercises in color mixing and color value, this book contains clear step-by-step instructions, which allow you to obtain repeatable dye results. The author discusses several brands of dyes, comparing the colors obtained from each. She includes instructions for each brand of dye.

This 147 page book is useful for wool, silk, or any fibre produced by an animal. Nylon and soy silk also require acid dyes.

This book has a great reputation across North America and is a good reference for both rug hooking and hand-spinning.  We also have her  book "Complex Color" in a separate listing.

I've just found out that Susan Rex's books will no longer be printed!!  The copies I have in stock are all that will be available.
