Indian Summer

Penny rugs are made from felted wool.  Wool fabric will shrink and fluff when agitated in hot, then cold water.  Felted wool stays together and doesn't shred.  Cut the wool according to the pattern.  Pieces are stitched using perle cotton or embroidery floss.  A blanket stitch is often used to applique the shapes.

The term "Penny Rug" came from using a large penny years ago to trace and make a round shape.

Finished Size: 48" by 19" or 122cm x 19cm.  Included in the pattern are the list of supplies, stitches used, instructions and tips.

This Autumn runner has pumpkins, leaves and pumpkin blossoms to decorate your table.  Make it longer or shorter to fit the size of your table.
