Opal Yarn 1437

Opal is well-known as a top-quality sock yarn.  It is made in Germany.  The fibre content is 75% wool with 25% Polyamid.  The wool makes it cosy and the synthetic contributes strength and makes the socks last longer. 

The yarn creates a design as it is knit.  It is interesting to watch the pattern form.  I've knit baby hats from this yarn and they also pattern.

Each ball is 100 grams and 425 meters.  This is enough for a good-sized pair of socks. 

The colors in this yarn are taken from a famous painting by an artist named Hundertwasser.  It is mostly a denim blue with green, cream, yellow, and red.
