Shetland Yarn - Black/Gray

Shetland Yarn - Black/Gray

Shetland is a breed of sheep known for the rich and varied colors of the fleeces. It is the finest wool among the British breeds. It is silky with a crisp hand-- soft, durable and warm. Traditionally, it has been used for Fair Isle knitwear and woven tweeds.

This yarn has been locally spun from Alberta Shetland wool. The colors are all natural as they come from the sheep, not dyed. Each skein weighs 100 grams or about 3.52 ounces. One skein is enough for a pair of socks. This yarn would also be excellent for knitting or weaving projects such as hats, scarves or sweaters. It is a two-ply yarn. Customers who have yarn from the Shetland Isles say this is equal or better.

This yarn is natural black and gray and knits or weaves with a tweed texture.  There is a sock shown in the photo so you can see how it knits up.
