Turkish Spindle - 155mm (6ins), 60gm (2ozs)  Silver Beech Hardwood. 

The whorl is not one piece, but has arms.  You won't spin on top of the whorl, but wind around it.  When the ball of yarn is complete, slide it off of the centre shaft, then remove the arms (smallest one first).  You have a nice ball of yarn that is usable right away without putting it onto a ball winder.
