Ashford Wool Cards are wood with metal teeth to card wool or other fibre. Used to straighten and fluff the fibre in preparation for hand-spinning. Cards also help to remove vegetable matter from the fleece.
I especially like the curved back which makes for easier, more rhythmic carding. Ashford wool hand cards have 72 wires per square inch. They measure 220 x 125 mm. which is approximately 9 by 5 inches. 72 tpi are the standard cards used for wool.
We also have the 108 hand cards which are used for finer fibres like alpaca and cotton. The spacing of the teeth on this set of cards is 108 wires per square inch. The cards are sold in a pair and each measures 220 x 125 mm which is approximately 5 inches by 9 inches. The backs are curved to make carding easier.
Good quality, sturdy — one set is good for many years of use. Sold as a pair.
