Golden Fleece blending board pad is available in 72 or 108 tpi (tines per inch). 72 is Standard for wool or if you want the possibility of producing Art Yarns. You don’t want a cloth that is too fine so you can include locks, ribbon etc. If your blending a lot of finer fibres such as Alpaca, Yak, Silk etc. then you might prefer the 108tpi for finer fibres.
Save some money, and prepare your own blending board using this cloth. Each piece is 30 x 30cm (or 12 by 12 inches) with a vulcanized rubber backing. There is a space around the edge of the pad to allow it to be tacked or stapled to a board. Nickel-plated wire is used.
Blending cloth has longer teeth, a different, more open tooth pattern than found on a drum carder. The finish on the tip of the wire is such that it is less likely to hurt your hand since there is so much more contact using a blending board than hand or drum carders. Regular carding cloth has a shorter tooth in comparison to blending cloth, a more closed tooth pattern, and the finish on the tip is a bit more aggressive.
The special fabrication and design of blending cloth makes it ideal for handling a spectrum of materials; normal fleeces, and not-so-normal fun additives; yarn, bits of cloth, etc. On top of that, the makeup of the tooth itself is best suited for the process of evenly blending, and uniformly removing the fibre.
Instructions for making a blending board included. Made in Europe.
