Corriedale is a dual-purpose breed of sheep used for wool and meat. The breed is a cross between the Merino and Lincoln. The fleece has a micron count of 25 to 30 and staple length from 9 to 15 cm. It is a medium-fine wool with good crimp. Beginning spinners often start with Corriedale because the length makes it easier to spin than some other fibres. It’s prime for needle-felting because of the bulk and loft. Wet-felters appreciate it’s durability. It felts well and is often used for an item that will get lots of use like a hat, book cover or purse.
