Falkland wool, refers to wool grown only on the Falkland Islands, east of Argentina. Falkland sheep are a combination of Corriedale, Polwarth, and Dohne Merino. The wool clip from these islands is a very good white. The wool we have is Top, so it has been combed. Combing produces a more luxurious product as all the short bits are removed.
Staple length is commonly 4 to 6 inches. Micron count is purported to be 26, but this seems softer to me. It has good bulk and a soft handle. It is chemical free. I’ve been spinning it, and it’s lovely wool at a good price.
Wool is packaged in 100 gram portions.
