This brown Yak has been de-haired. It is the “down” which is the soft under-coat. Yak is a soft and a very fine fibre. Yak fibres are around 16 to 20 microns in diameter, which is about the same fineness as cashmere. Yak may blend with another fibre like silk or alpaca if you like and it goes farther.
