Banana Threads: Fibre is taken from the stem or shoots of the banana tree. It is processed and refined to produce a lightweight, highly absorbent and ecologically friendly fibre that is comfortable to wear. Banana has been used in Japan for kimonos since the 13th century as it has good luster and drape.
Banana threads are different from Banana Top. It is less of a fibre and more a fine, shiny thread. It may be used in spinning, felting, or paper-making. It’s very popular with wet-felters.
Banana Threads are packaged in 25 gram portions. We have White and Colors. If there is a color you’d prefer, let us know and we’ll try to accommodate you, or we can supply a bag of mixed colors.
